JACKSONVILLE - Progress Jacksonville, a pro-alcohol sales committee, is passing around petitions in the city.
There are two petitions.
One would allow the sale of beer and wine for off-premise consumption.
The other is to allow restaurants to sell beer and wine without private memberships.
Package liquor sales are not included in the petitions.
Each petition needs at least 1,033 signatures.
You can sign the petitions at Brookshire Brothers and Walmart or wherever you may run into a Progress Jacksonville group member.
Obviously the sale of alcohol is a contentious debate here, so we asked you to get on your East Texas Soap Box.
