COMING TONIGHT: In early December, after numerous complaints came in about a herd of malnourished horses in Lindale, rescuers ended up finding 43 emaciated horses and about a dozen skeletal remains.
The SPCA of East Texas as well as the Humane Society of the United States 'took the reigns' so to speak and brought the horses to the East Texas State Fair Grounds for rehabilitation.
For the past month, they've been getting good food, exercise and vaccinations all in preparation to find the horses a new home.
Today, 2 of those horses found a home.
"It's a mare who is pregnant and then a white stallion whose now a gelding and so, even though they're leaving the barn and your hearts are always connected to them, thy're going to a great home. We'll be able to follow up, see how they're doing. They already look 100% better and we're just very excited," said Jackie Beckstad with the Humane Society of the United States.
