Aggravated Robbery Investigated
On December 8, 2009 at approximately 8:30pm, a 49 year old victim called the police department reporting that he had been robbed at knife point. Officers responded to the scene in the 500 block of N. Spring and met with the homeless victim.
The victim reported he had been asleep when he heard a noise outside the box in which he was living. The victim contacted the suspect outside and words were exchanged. The victim reported he told the suspect he was going to call the police and when he produced his cellular telephone, the suspect grabbed the telephone and produced a pocket knife and threatened the victim with bodily harm.
The victim told officers the suspect then rode off on a bicycle. The victim was not injured during the incident. The suspect is described as a black male approximately 6’00” tall and weighing approximately 180 pounds. The suspect is believed to be between 35 and 40 years of age. The suspect was wearing a black hoody with white sleeves and dark pants. It is believed the suspect is also a homeless person.
This case will be referred to the Major Crimes Unit of the police department for follow-up investigation. If anyone has any information pertaining to this case, they are urged to call the Tyler Police Department.
