WASHINGTON (AP) - President Barack Obama says he prays for
strength and guidance when he gets up in the morning, and for
forgiveness when he goes to bed at night.
Addressing the National Prayer Breakfast on Thursday, Obama said
he had received Jesus Christ as his "Lord and savior" while
working as a community organizer with pastors in Chicago.
He added that he and his wife, Michelle, aren't bothered when
they hear their Christianity questioned, because they believe what
matters is that they're "being true to our conscience and true to
our God."
Obama said he prays for a closer walk with God, for humility and
for the wisdom to know how to help people who are struggling.
