***NEWS RELEASE***
On December 14, 2009 the Tyler Police Department received a call from 7101 Waljim St. regarding several individuals in a maroon vehicle stopped in the roadway.
According to the caller, the individuals were looking into parked cars and left the area after being seen by the caller. A short time later officers located a vehicle matching the caller’s description and displaying the same license plate number provided by the caller parked at the Zippy J’s gas station located at 6420 S. Officers then contacted the vehicle’s occupants and immediately began noticing inconsistencies with the information they were providing. During this time officers also observed a large volume of property spread throughout the vehicle.
As officers continued their investigation they were able to identify much of the property inside the vehicle as stolen, which was later returned to their respective owners.
Following the investigation the four individuals found inside the vehicle were placed under arrest and charged with three counts of Burglary of a Vehicle and one count of Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity.
