"You are here to represent people and you have to be accessible," said former New York Representative Chris Lee.
But not like this. A bare-chested photo sent to a woman who posted a personal ad on Craigslist.
Congressman Chris Lee said he was a single Washington lobbyist.
He's really married, with a child.
Constituents and colleagues are shocked.
Iowa Representative Steve King said, "It's a very, very public life and wherever you go anywhere, you know you're likely to be on tape."
The announcement of his resignation came just hours after news broke that Gawker-dot-com posted the photo, and flirtatious emails.
The woman broke contact after Googling him and learning he is a two-term Congressman.
Last fall, Lee won 74 percent of the vote.
In a statement, Lee admitted "profound mistakes" and said: "I regret the harm that my actions have caused my family, my staff and my constituents. I deeply and sincerely apologize to them all."
