TYLER - During a Smith County public meeting Thursday, the discussion of a may ballot proposal for the expansion of Smith County Jail was on the table.
Smith County Commissioner Jeff Warr says the new expansion would include an in-house infirmary. It's expected to save more than $600,000 to $800,000 in medical expenses each year.
He also says the jail expansion would lower operating costs and help jail over crowding.
