The Longview Police Department is warning area banks to be aware of suspects
in the area that are attempting to cash counterfeit checks from an area school
district.
Several suspects in a burgundy colored Chevrolet Suburban, a black Nissan
Altima and a black Lexus passenger car went to two different Austin Bank
locations earlier this morning at 308 East Loop 281 and 2609 Gilmer Road and
attempted to cash counterfeit checks that appeared to be from the Jacksonville
Independent School District.
Because the transactions appeared suspicious, the suspects were not able to
cash the counterfeit checks at either location. Officers urge bank employees to
be watchful for anyone trying to cash a check from the Jacksonville Independent
School District and to contact the Longview Police Department immediately if
they encounter these suspects.
