LONGVIEW - City of Longview offices will be closed Thursday, Dec. 24, and Friday, Dec. 25, in observance of Christmas. All City offices will resume regular business hours Monday, Dec. 28. City offices will also be closed Friday, Jan. 1, for New Year’s Day and will resume normal business hours Monday, Jan. 4.
The Sanitation Division will not pick up trash Thursday, Dec. 24, Friday, Dec. 25, or Friday, Jan. 1. The Compost Site will also be closed on those days. Due to large trash collection amounts after the holiday, citizens are asked not to set yard waste curbside until their next scheduled collection after January 1.
The Longview Public Library will be closed Thursday, Dec. 24, and Friday, Dec.25, but will be open for regular hours on Saturday, Dec. 26, and Sunday, Dec. 27. For New Years, the Library will close at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 31 and remain closed on Friday, Jan. 1. The Library book drop will remain open throughout the holidays.
Broughton Recreation Center, Green Street Recreation Center, Paula Martin Jones Recreation Center, and all other Park buildings will close Wednesday, Dec. 23 at 5:00 p.m., and remain closed until Monday, Dec. 28. Park buildings will also be closed Friday, Jan. 1.
Longview Transit, the public bus transportation system, will stop service early at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 24 and Thursday, December 31. Service will not operate on Friday, Dec. 25, Saturday, Dec. 26, or Friday, Jan 1. However, Longview Transit will offer a Safe-Ride-Home service on New Year’s Eve, Dec. 31, from 8:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m., which can be scheduled by calling 903-753-2287. Transit administrative offices will be closed Thursday, Dec. 24; Friday, Dec. 25; and Friday, Jan. 1.
