YANTIS - Jennifer Williams is the president of the Bluebonnet Equine Humane Society. She says the rescue of twelve starving horses in Wood County is one of the worst cases she's seen.
Officials say the case started in 2009 but it wasn't until a little more than a week ago authorities stepped in to take over. Ten of the horses were in rough shape and taken to an adoption house where they are receiving proper care but, two were sent to Lorena, which is just outside of Waco, to receive special attention.
Officials say it took months of neglect for these horses to get in the shape they are in. Now, officials say, with help from bluebonnet equine, these animals are on the road to recovery.
Officials say they need help from the public because there are several other cases similar to this one but, until these animals are adopted they just don't have the room to house any more.
