TYLER - A group of East Texans were in Hawaii when the tsunami hit the morning. The Apache Belles, a group of Tyler Junior College student were performing this week performing for the U.S. military.
This morning they awoke to the news of the magnitude 8.9 earthquake shook Japan. A spokesman for T.J.C says the Apache Bells were moved to a higher room in their hotel this morning when they received word of a possible tsunami headed toward Hawaii.
For those worried about friends or family on the trip, officials say they are updating Facebook to keep everyone updated.
Just before one this afternoon the group of approximately 120 were given the all clear.
