Tyler, TX — A Tyler man is in jail after he escaped from Officer Kevin Mobley, who had him detained for possession of controlled substance in the area of Trezevant and Tennneha Street, around 10:15 a.m. Friday.
The man, 40 year old Markus Earl Glenn, of Tyler, is charged with Escape causing bodily injury, a 2nd degree felony and Tampering with Evidence, a 3rd degree Felony.
Glenn was being placed under arrest and had one handcuff on when he struggled with officer Mobley and broke free. Mobley suffered cuts to his hand during the struggle to maintain control of Glenn. Glenn was found on a roof top at 703 Trezevant Street, after a short foot pursuit.
Officers and Negotiators responded to the scene to secure the area and talk the suspect into coming down off the roof. Glenn was taken into custody after two hours of negotiations
A KETK reporter says the man is no longer on the roof and is in custody of Tyler police.
Police were able to talk Glenn down from the roof.
Police say 40-year-old Markus Earl Glenn has been on the roof since just before 10:30 a.m.
Glenn was originally stopped by police for a pedestrian stop, then police found he had a crack pipe. That's when he evaded police by climbing on top of a building.
The suspect has identified as 40-year-old Markus Earl Glenn.
