SMITH COUNTY — Four help groups in East Texas are sending aid and people to Haiti.
Mercy Ships has trained teams ready to help with medical and construction needs among other things. They say volunteers should call to tell them about skills that could help out in this situation.
The Texas Baptist Men chapter based in Lindale is sending water purifying equipment to the troubled island. They say some members are already there.
And both the Salvation Army and American Red Cross have trained rescue teams helping with the immediate disaster. But say, money is the best way east texans can help with efforts as the recovery begins.
