More than 350 athletes from across East Texas in events
Lufkin — The Lufkin Daily News is reporting more than 350 Special Olympians from across East Texas will be competing in this year's Special Olympics at Abe Martin Stadium, starting Friday.
Games begin at 4 p.m. with the cycling event around Abe Martin Stadium. Area director Angela Grace says they're still needing volunteers to help.
Opening ceremonies start at 9 Saturday morning at the stadium. Athletes range in age from eight to seventy.
