TEXARKANA, Texas — The Bowie County sheriff says a mother and her two children have died in a house fire in Texarkana.
Sheriff James Prince says that the children who died in the early Wednesday morning fire were ages 8 and 11.
He says the grandparents of the children got to the house fire before authorities and pulled the 11-year-old out of the burning house. But the child was pronounced dead at the scene. The identities are being withheld pending notification of relatives.
The Texas Rangers and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives will investigate the fire. Part of Texarkana is located in Texas, part in Arkansas. The city is about 180 miles northeast of Dallas.
