TEXAS — A bill created to keep teachers safer has passed in the Texas senate. It would require schools to inform teachers if any of their students have been arrested, referred, or convicted of serious crimes.
Right now, officials tell us districts choose whether or not to tell teachers of students' criminal history.
Tyler ISD officials say hey hope the new bill will prevent tragedies like the stabbing at John Tyler High school from happening again.
Right now, TISD officials say they do inform teachers about students' past crime if they feel it is a threat.
