Tyler — Last year they played at Cowboys Stadium for the state championship.
It was Henderson against Chapel Hill for the state title back then.
They will both be back as the top two teams in Texas this year.
Henderson won back then, but this time Chapel Hill will win it all.
The Bulldogs will be #1 in 2011 and Henderson will be #2 according to Dave Campbell's Texas Football Magazine.
Chapel Hill will have 14 starters back from last year's state finalist.
Henderson will have a dozen starters returning.
Carthage has won three straight state championships but that incredible streak will stop this season. Carthage is #6 in Texas Football's preseason poll.
Gilmer is ninth statewide. The Gilmer Buckeyes will have nine starters back from last year's nine-win team.
Lindale is #13. The Lindale Eagles will have ten starters returning.
Texas Football Magazine says John Tyler is the 12th-best team in Texas. JT won 12 games last year and the Lions will have nine starters back this year.
Longview is #13 statewide. The Lobos went to the state semifinals last year and the "Green Guys" will have just six starters returning this year.
Lufkin is 15th. The Lufkin Panthers won nine games last year and the "Purple People" will have a dozen starters back.
Tatum is #2 in 2A. The Tatum Eagles went 12-and-1 last season and Tatum will have six starters back this season.
Texas Football Magazine says Daingerfield will not win its fourth straight state championship. Daingerfield is picked third statewide.
New Boston is picked to win it all along with Omaha Paul Pewitt.
A total of three East Texas teams will win state championships this season and 17 area teams are ranked in the top 20 statewide.
The high school football season has officially started because Texas Football Magazine has kicked off its coverage.
