Longview, TX — Longview residents will have a chance to celebrate the Fourth of July in a traditional manner with a fireworks festival scheduled for nightfall July 4.
The event is sponsored by the city, Longview Too Ambucs and other local groups. It is a contrast from the past several years, when the city’s fireworks show has been held July 3.
“We wanted to be more traditional and have it actually on the Fourth of July rather than the night before,” said Maria Vargas with Longview Too Ambucs.
Since many people will have returned by Monday night from out-of-town travel, Vargas said attendance is likely to be higher than when the fireworks show is July 3.
The fireworks will be shot off from the Maude Cobb Convention and Activity Center, 100 Grand Blvd. Spectators may view the show for free from the parking lot or surrounding areas. Access to the Longview Fairgrounds area and Longview Exhibit Building is limited to sponsors of the event and active military personnel.
