2 Texas Marines killed in combat in Afghanistan

WASHINGTON — (AP) - Two Marine lance corporals from Texas have died in combat while fighting in southern Afghanistan.
 

Defense Department statements issued Wednesday say 20-year-old Lance Cpl. John F. Farias of New Braunfels and 22-year-old Lance Cpl. Mark R. Goyet of Sinton died Tuesday in action in the Helmand
province of Afghanistan.

As is customary with Marine Corps casualty statements, no other details of the incident were provided.

Farias was assigned to 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force of Camp Pendleton, Calif. Goyet was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force of Twentynine Palms, Calif.
