Leaders in Washingon debate raising debt ceiling
Tyler, TX — President Barack Obama declared a debt-crisis session Thursday with congressional leaders. Several East Texans feel the left and the right is equally guilty of gluttony.
Less than four weeks remain before a possible first-ever default on U.S. financial obligations. The Obama administration says the government needs to raise the current 14.3 trillion dollar debt limit by August 2nd.
Reports say social security is being examined in the talks as well, much to the dismay of many Democratic leaders.
President Obama used tought talk at his Twitter town hall. "The debt ceiling should not be something that is used as a gun against the heads of the american people," said the President.
Aside from the partisan divide of the debate, nearly every East Texan KETK spoke with says there's an agreement in one area, "get our government out of debt, our nation out of debt," says one East Texas woman.
