LONGVIEW, TX — The summer heat is causing more homeless shelters and missions to fill up.
Officials with the Hiway 80 Rescue Mission in Longview tell KETK they're serving more people this summer during this brutal stretch of heat than they did during the winter when it snowed.
Unlike winter it takes more supplies to ensure these men and women stay healthy.
Director Eric Burger tells KETK most of them work during the day but lack the essential supplies to stay safe in this heat.
