TYLER - Segment 3B will reach from Highway 31 to Interstate 20, making it unnecessary to go all the way around Loop 323 to get to the interstate.
According to media reports, that project is estimated to cost about 70 million dollars.
Officials say now is the time to get all the Loop 49 projects done because in the future, the cost will be much higher.
Teri Hamby says her husband will appreciate Segment 3B of Toll 49 because it will cut down the time he spends on the road for his frequent trips to Dallas.
"Sometimes he can go like some back roads or anything, but I think it'd be easier if we had the toll road...it'd be easier just to cruise on a lot faster," Mrs. Hamby says.
The money for the project will come from state bond sales.
Officials say right now, that part of the Loop is being designed and there are a few more properties to buy before construction can begin.
