The Cowboys want to keep Doug Free.
But Jerry Jones has his team so far over the salary cap he might not be able to pay a player who's Free.
The Jones 'Boys will be $15 million over the cap so they might have to cut a bunch of veterans like Marion Barber, Marc Colombo, Bradie James, Terence Newman, Leonard Davis and Keith Brooking.
Why not cut Roy Williams?
He's overpaid and he under-produces.
He's a bust but he's an expensive bust.
He costs too much to cut.
He would cost the Cowboys $13 million against the salary cap if they let him go.
Like it or not, the Cowboys are stuck with him.
Jerry has always defended the fact that he's the owner and the general manager by saying it streamlines the organization.
Decisions can be made faster.
He'll get his chance to prove that because the new collective bargaining agreement will allow just 72 hours for free agency.
Jerry likes to wheel and deal.
Now, he'll have to do it on a three day deadline.
Will he be up to it?
We'll find out soon.
