Phil Kuchinsky talked with two area athletes who are hoping to take Roy Williams' spot on the roster.
After spending the last two years on the Dallas Cowboys practice squad, former Gilmer Buckeye Manuel Johnson knows that this training camp might be his last chance to impress the coaching staff and get a position on the active roster.
Johnson told KETK's Phil Kuchinsky, "With Roy leaving, that raised a little hair on your neck. Everybody's going to be in competition for a starting job. It'll be good."
Another East Texan hoping to move off the practice squad is former John Tyler Lion Teddy Williams, a four-time All-American for UT San Antonio.
Williams said, "We help each other. We're both trying to get better. Just do whatever we can to show what we can contribute to this team."
