Coach J. J. Eckert led the Kilgore College Rangers to the playoffs last season.
That's saying a lot because the Southwest Junior College Football Conference is the toughest in the country.
"It's the SEC of junior colleges," Eckert said. "They have five straight national championships and we've got two in this conference."
"You go back and look at Cam Newton," Eckert continued. "He wasn't even voted the MVP of this conference in 2009."
"He goes on to Auburn, wins the national championship, the Heisman Trophy and ends up being the first pick of the draft," Eckert said. "That was a great deal for our conference on the national level."
"Everybody had a chance to see what we're producing and how competitive it is every week," Eckert told KETK's Danny Elzner.
