There's an enthusiasm at Tyler Junior College. It's because of Danny Palmer.
He's been coaching for almost four decades and it never gets old.
Coach Palmer told KETK's Danny Elzner, "This will be my 39th year of coaching and I'm more excited this year than I ever have been."
Palmer is starting his fifth season at TJC.
Tyler Junior College beat rival Kilgore College in an overtime thriller early last season, and back then, everything looked bright.
Tyler stumbled down the stretch and finished with a losing record.
But this year Coach Palmer picked up quarterback Tyrik Rollison.
He led Sulphus Springs to the state championship three years ago.
Rollison had a hand in seven touchdowns in that state championship game.
Rollison is coming to TJC by way of Auburn and Sam Houston State.
"He was red-shirted at Auburn," Palmer said. "He was at Sam Houston State because Auburn had Cam Newton come in."
"He went to Sam Houston and he was their starting quarterback but he got his left wrist broken," Palmer added. "Things didn't work out for him there. "
"He was available," Palmer said. "We're real excited about getting Tyrik Rollison."
