Tyler, TX — The Smith County Municipal Utility District is encouraging all citizens to conserve water but some may have noticed Tyler fire hydrants being opened with water pouring out.
The City of Tyler tells KETK this is part of a state mandated maintenance to keep chemical levels down in the water.
With the temperatures being as hot as they have been the lines are having to be flushed more often.
The lines are under constant monitoring and have to be flushed when certain levels are reached.
Tyler officials tell KETK these line flushes are for the benefit of Tyler residents and to ensure the water is safe.
