Longview, TX — Longview Fire Department officials on Tuesday night began searching for arson suspects connected to 11 fires in the Ingram Park area in seven days, said Fire Marshal Johnny Zackary.
Firefighters were sent to an afternoon grass and woods fire on Pegues Place, just north of Bramlette Elementary School.
Bramlette students attend the former Forest Park Middle School on Lake Drive. The fire burned about half an acre of land in a grass and wooded area, Zackary said.
Another fire followed later Tuesday afternoon, and a third blaze that edged toward the school building started about 7:25 p.m. The fires are not in the immediate area of new school construction.
With 11 fires in the area, including a few rekindles, in about a week, Zackary said the department began investigating the fires as arson.
