tyler — This is one of those stories that makes me want to bang my head against the wall.
And it drives me crazy there is not more outrage. It's Operation Fast and Furious.
The dream child from some government egghead that never realized how dangerous this program was going to be if it went wrong. Well, it went wrong and some have been hurt and even killed.
Just in case you don't know, it was a half-baked scheme by the ATF to allow bad guys from the drug cartels in border states to buy weapons in the U.S..
The cute little plan was we'll sell the guns to bad guys and then track them down and smile big for the press release.
Well, guess what? Something went wrong. The guns could not be traced. A U.S. border agent was killed with one of them. Eleven more crimes were committed with these weapons.
Gun store owners in Texas and other border states called the ATF and said these shady characters are wanting to buy guns. The ATF's answer: let them buy them.
They did, now, we know we have a mess.
There was news this week of the three ATF big wigs who okay'd this were promoted. The L.A. Time reports that's not true, they were just transferred to other jobs.
But Attorney General Eric holder and the rest of high level feds have some explaining to do.
Plus, why hasn't this scandal been reported more? Why hasn't this investigation been fast-tracked? This is government incompetence at its worst.
That's my POV, what's yours?
