TYLER — The Tyler City Council voted Wednesday to put up new speed limit signs on roads close to the Tyler Pounds Regional Airport off Highway 31. The new speed limits are better on these roadways, for drivers, who need to make more efficient commutes, around that area, according to Tyler's Traffic Engineer, Peter Eng. Two roads will have their speed limit changed, Negem Road, CR 1141, to 35 miles per hour and Pleasant Retreat Road, CR 1145, to 45 miles per hour, whereas, at the Junction of Spur 364 and Highway 31 west and east bound, drivers will stay at speeds that don't go over 65 miles per hour. The Tyler City Council says the changes make the roadways more safe for drivers. Eng agrees and says the new speed limit signs have nothing to do with traffic problems, just about making a better commute for East Texans.
