Longview, TX --- A new residency program hopes to attract more doctors to the east Texas area.
Good Shepherd Medical Center in Longview and UT Health Science - Tyler teamed up to bring the program to the area.
The program was announced back in March 2010 but it was not until recently the program got accreditation to move forward.
The program will bring in more than fifty doctors over a three year period starting next year.
Program officials tell KETK there is a need for more doctors especially in east Texas.
