Smith County - As veterans return home to East Texas, one event slated for this weekend is set to honor them.
"It's geared for education and scholarship purposes", says board member David Irwin.
Running with a volunteer staff, the non-profit event will raise money to benefit the veterans of East Texas.
"This Saturday the concert will have, the premier act will be Sara Evans, with special guest Derek Sholl and a local band called Chase and the New South."
For those who aren't new to the benefit, we're told you can expect to see some changes this year.
"The concert's going to be a little smaller and a little more intimate if you will."
Tickets start at $200, an increase from last year, but we're told the increase is for a good cause.
"The tickets are a little more but the benefit to the charity is also a little higher as well."
Despite the entertainment the night will surely bring, there is one thing sponsors want folks to take away from the event.
"The veterans, the returning wounded warriors are our responsibility. As a veteran myself, and as a member of society, they are our responsibility."
