Longview, TX — A Longview man has been arrested after an overnight shooting left another man dead on the city's south side.
Officers responded at about 11:15 p.m. Tuesday night to a report of gunshots in the 1100 block of Hutchings Blvd., according to a Longview Police Dept. news release.
Witnesses on the scene told officers there was a person inside a nearby home who had been shot. Officers identified the victim as Orion Marcel Peoples, 31, of Longview. Peoples died from his injuries.
Police found another man who said he was assaulted inside the home, the release said. Christopher Carter, 23, told police a man had assaulted and pointed a gun at him.
Officers later apprehended a suspect, 18-year-old Troy Carnell Saddler of Longview, in the shooting.
Saddler is in the Gregg County Jail, charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
