Lufkin, TX — Lufkin Industries employees accepted a three-year contract Sunday following a ratification vote at the Deep East Texas Council of Labor AFL-CIO building on Old Gobblers Knob Road.
The International Brotherhood of Boilermakers district business representative Mark Thompson said union leaders are pleased with the outcome.
“There was a lot of negotiation on how to keep the company competitive,” Thompson said. “It was a collaborative effort on how to keep jobs in Lufkin and compete with overseas labor. We feel good about it. The proposal clearly passed, and the members seem happy about it.”
