LONGVIEW - On March 23, 2010 at around 11:45 a.m., Longview Officer Johnny Villasenor located several suspicious persons in the parking lot of the Johnson Street Apartments at 429 Johnson Street.
Officer Villasenor stopped to investigate and as he was speaking to the subjects, one of them attempted to leave. Officer Villasenor then detained the subject and Officer Rolf Kotulla arrived to assist. The subject, James Herd, then attempted to flee, but was stopped by Officer Kotulla. Herd then fought with officers as they attempted to handcuff him and Herd was placed into handcuffs as other officers arrived at the apartments to assist.
A friend of James Herd’s, Shana Walker, interfered with officers as they were
arresting Herd and she was arrested as well.
James David Herd Jr., date of birth 4-27-1992 of 1205 Bertha Street Longview, was found to be in possession of marijuana and several pills that were
identified as a dangerous drug. Herd was booked at the Gregg County jail for assault on a public servant (3rd degree felony), resisting arrest (Class A
misdemeanor), possession of a dangerous drug (Class A misdemeanor) and possession of marijuana (Class B misdemeanor).
Shana Marie Walker, date of birth 12-06-1984 of 104 West Melton Street Longview, was booked at the Gregg County Jail for interference with public duties (Class B misdemeanor).
A third subject, Bobby Wayne Leatch date of birth 918-1989 of 125 Jewel Drive Longview, was arrested and booked into the Gregg County Jail for an
outstanding theft warrant.
Officers Kotulla and Villasenor were treated for minor injuries at a Longview area medical facility and were released.
