Longview, TX — The body of a 59-year-old man who had been missing since Saturday was found Tuesday by U.S. Forest Service crews working to contain a blaze near Woodlawn, north of Marshall in Harrison County.
The Harrison County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday identified the man as Forrest Weeks, whose body was found inside the fire line around a blaze that began Monday.
Sheriff’s office spokesman Jay Webb said Weeks had been reported missing about 3 p.m. Saturday at the end of Baker Bridge Road near the Harrison-Marion county line.
“Upon arrival of the responding deputy, it was determined that the missing person may have walked into the wooded and heavily brushy area and had not been seen again,” Webb said.
Deputies on horseback, on foot and in vehicles searched the area unsuccessfully Saturday, and returned Sunday with two tracking dogs. A Department of Public Safety helicopter also assisted in Sunday’s search, as did Texas Game Wardens and U.S. Fish and Wildlife law enforcement officials.
