***NEWS RELEASE***
The Tyler ISD has agreed to honor the request of Dr. Carol Saxenian to move from her current position as principal of John Tyler High School to take a special assignment for the upcoming school year. While this has been an extremely difficult year at John Tyler, Dr. Saxenian has served well in the role of principal.
"TISD is appreciative of the service and commitment of Dr. Saxenian," said Debbie Kelly, Executive Director of Secondary Education. "She will continue to be an asset to the district in her new role."
"Although my time at John Tyler has been brief, I have enjoyed my tenure as principal," said Saxenian. "I am so proud of the students and how they represent our campus in so many ways. I'm appreciative of the parents and community members for all of the support they have provided for me this year. We have experienced growth and progress in a number of areas throughout the school."
During the transition, Mr. Jeff Collum, Executive Director for Student Services, will be overseeing the day to day operations of the campus. Dr. Edd Schneider, School Improvement Facilitator, will be coordinating the academic programming for the campus and assisting with planning for the upcoming year.
TISD plans to immediately begin the formal process of searching for a new principal of John Tyler High School. We appreciate the patience and support of staff, students and parents as we move forward.
