A former San Antonio TV anchorwoman has been sentenced to probation over the theft of painkillers from a friend and an altered prescription.
Karen Marie Gallagher in August pleaded no contest to two counts of obtaining drugs by fraud. A judge on Friday sentenced the 53-year-old Gallagher as part of a plea agreement.
Investigators say Gallagher, who worked at TV stations in San Antonio in the 1980s and 1990s, earlier this year took prescription painkillers from a medicine cabinet during a dinner party at a friend's home. The hostess reported the theft of more than 30 hydrocodone pills.
Court documents indicate Gallagher later tried to use the
woman's name in a failed attempt to get the prescription refilled.
