TYLER - The national average for unempoyment numbers are in for the month of March, but it will still be a couple weeks before East Texas knows where it stands in comparison.
For the past 18 months, Texas has been well below the national average in unemployment, a trend researchers say they expect to see continue through this year.
Tom Mullins with the Tyler Economic Development Council says he anticipates a steady trend of seeing East Texas unemployment go down and employment numbers go up for the month of March and forward.
Mullins says the big contributors to the numbers are growth in private and public sector jobs, something that is a plus to the East Texas economy.
