CARROLLTON, Texas (AP) - —
Officials say a 10-year-old Oklahoma City girl who police say was apparently abducted while visiting the
Dallas area was stabbed to death.
The Dallas County medical examiner's office said Monday that Jasmen Gonzalez died of a stab wound to the chest. Her death has been ruled a homicide.
Carrollton police are describing a family friend as a "person of interest." That person is being held by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.
Police have said the girl was last seen Saturday night at an apartment complex. Her body was found Sunday afternoon behind a residence several blocks away.
Police initially said the girl may have wandered away from where the family was staying, but Lt. Doug Mitchell says police now believe the child was abducted.
