Investigators say one Southeast Texas boy has died and another is hurt after both were hit by a truck
while rushing to a Halloween party. The Galveston County Sheriff's Office says the boys jumped from
a vehicle and tried to run across a road, to reach the party Monday night at the Port Bolivar (BAW'-luh-vuhr) Volunteer Fire Department.
Maj. Ray Tuttoilmondo (too-leh-MAHN'-doe) says the boys, who weren't wearing Halloween costumes, were struck by an oncoming pickup. The Galveston County Daily News reports 12-year-old Ernest Rodriguez was pronounced dead at a hospital.
Tuttoilmondo says 11-year-old Christian Balderrana was hospitalized Tuesday with injuries that are not life-threatening. Tuttoilmondo says Balderrana's father was driving the boys and tried to turn into the parking lot when they jumped out. Neither driver was charged.
