The John Tyler Lions will roar into the playoffs with a seven-game win streak. Cujo is averaging 44 points per game. Quarterback Greg Ward is the leader of the Lions. He's run for nearly a thousand yards and he's thrown for over 2,000 yards. Ward has had a hand in 38 touchdowns so far this season. He will lead John Tyler against Texas High Friday night in JT's playoff opener at Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium, Earl Campbell Field.
Number one Chapel Hill got a thrill. The unbeaten Bulldogs got their quarterback back. Avery Saenz is back from a broken right ankle he suffered two months ago. Saenz fired this touchdown pass last Friday to Anthony Kincade who quarterbacked the team while Saenz was hurt. Chapel Hill will take its perfect record into the playoffs this Friday. The top team in Texas will play Jasper in Lufkin Friday night.
Gilmer is also unbeaten and the Buckeyes also got their quarterback hurt. Luke Turner suffered a broken ankle last month after gaining 2,000 total yards in just seven games. Jordan Traylor will lead the unbeaten Bux into the playoffs. Gilmer will play the Atlanta Rabbits at Lobo Stadium in Longview Friday night. Gilmer beat Atlanta at Atlanta earlier this season by three touchdowns.
Defending state champion Henderson had to win last Friday to make it back to the playoffs this year and the Lions did it. Henderson won after back to back losses in the District of Doom. That's what the Lions did last year to get into the playoffs and Henderson went on to win it all. This year's playoff run will start in Royse City Friday night against Paris.
