PORT ARANSAS, Texas (AP) - —
The Coast Guard has rescued two people from a sailboat that was sinking off Southeast Texas.
The rescue, using a Coast Guard helicopter to hoist the boaters to safety, happened Sunday night near the Port Aransas (uh-RAN'-zuhs) jetties.
The Coast Guard says the two people, with no reported injuries, were transported to Naval Air Station Corpus Christi to be examined.
Officials say the call for help came around 4:15 p.m. Sunday from the Majestic, a sailboat taking on water about 100 yards from the beach.
The Coast Guard says a rescue swimmer dropped near the boat assisted in getting the two people on board hoisted into the helicopter.
