LA MARQUE, Texas (AP) - — Authorities say a suspect is in custody after using a fake bomb in a bank robbery. Police said a man went through the drive-through at the Regions
Bank in La Marque Saturday and placed something that looked like a bomb in the transfer tube. He demanded the teller send him as much money as possible in 15 minutes. KHOU-TV reports that, after
receiving the money, the suspect drove away.
Authorities stopped an SUV matching a description from the scene on Gulf Freeway and noticed a large amount of money in the passenger seat. The man was taken into custody.
The bomb squad was notified and eventually determined the device was no threat.
La Marque is about 38 miles south of Houston.
