Soldier wounded in Texas City shooting

Soldier is girlfriend of Galveston Co. Deputy

Houston — The Houston Chronicle is reporting; an Army soldier who is the girlfriend of a Galveston County Sheriff's Office deputy was wounded at her home in Texas City after her boyfriend left the house Tuesday morning.

The shooting occurred at the home in the 2200 block of 5th Ave. N about 8:20 a.m., said Capt. Brian Goetschius, spokesman for the Texas City Police Department.

Goetschius said 22-year-old Krysta Cunningham was rushed to UTMB-Galveston. She had been shot once in the abdomen. She underwent surgery, and police did not know her condition.
