Henderson, TX --- Rumors concerning the Henderson Animal Shelter putting down all their dogs if they are not adopted by this afternoon are not true.
Rumors swirled on Facebook Tuesday that the shelter was going to have to put down all their dogs if they were not adopted because of the shelter being understaffed.
Shelter Supervisor Veronica Whittington tells KETK these rumors are not true, but the shelter called local animal rescue groups because the shelter was overloaded with smaller dogs.
The shelter currently has animals that have been there since July and have no plans on putting any animals down.
The shelter will be closed for the holiday weekend but will reopen on Monday.
