NEW BOSTON, Texas — A man accused in the April shooting death of a northeast Texas sheriff's deputy has been indicted on a capital murder charge.
The Texarkana Gazette reports a grand jury in New Boston on Thursday indicted Tucker Strickland of Texarkana. He remains in the Parker County Jail with bond set at $3 million.
Bowie County sheriff's Deputy Sherri Jones was shot in the head while escorting Strickland from a mental health court hearing. Investigators say Jones was disarmed and shot with her own gun.
Strickland was later caught in Ashdown, Ark.
