HENDERSON, Texas — The Henderson ISD school board on Wednesday unanimously voted to ask the Henderson City Council to create a 300-foot alcohol-free zone around the district’s schools.
The only store within the distance of current school buildings is a Brookshire Brothers grocery, which is across the street from Henderson Middle School, Director of Human Resources Stacey Sullivan said.
Brookshire Brothers representatives have said at past Henderson City Council meetings that if the store cannot sell alcohol, it will close.
