NACOGDOCHES COUNTY - Nacogdoches County may soon see a big boost to their economy thanks to a new multi-million dollar biomass plant. The plant once it's completed, we're told, will be the biggest one-hundred percent biomass fueled plant in the country.
Experts say the fuel to power the plant comes from un-wanted, un-useable timber from local business like saw mills and cabinet shops.
Ron Ray the plant manager tells KETK, "It's a revenue stream that simply stated, some of these people just haven't had an opportunity to utilize up until this point."
We're told the plant should be up and running in the middle of next year and will hire about 38-full time positions.
