MIDLAND, TEXAS - Nearly 1,000 homes and businesses in Midland were without power for hours Monday night after a two-car collision sent one of the vehicles into a utility line.
The line broke in at least three places and a shopping mall was among the places left in the dark. Police were investigating the wreck, which they say occurred when one car leaving the mall collided with another on a street.
Tasa Watts, a Midland public information officer, tells the Midland Reporter-Telegram one vehicle flipped, clipping the power line and skidding through an alley.
No one was seriously hurt.
